Born and raised in the mesmerizing, beautiful Kashmir valley - Promila Kaul has always been a passionate nature lover. Her creativity is inspired by the breath-taking beauty of the scenic Kashmir valley. She draws heavily from these serene surroundings as she attempts to capture the awe inspiring landscape of Kashmir and its beautiful people on her canvas.

Promila attempts to bring out the subtleties of nature through use of vibrant colors by using acrylic on stretched canvas. The majestic snow clad mountains, the graceful chinar and almond trees, the bright spring flowers, the lush farms that run along the valley and the ethereal beauty of Kashmiri women form the central theme of her paintings. Her paintings depict the female identity and highlight the beauty and power of women.

Promila learned how to paint very early in life and her keen interest in painting was noticed and encouraged by her mentor and artist B.K.Sultan from Kashmir. She participated in various art exhibitions at school level through cultural art academy and won several awards for her work. In 2013, she successfully completed an online art course from Pennsylvania State University and achieved Statement of Accomplishment with distinction. Her recent art exhibition at the show by Artistary at 'The Seven Days Art Gallery' in Bandra was much appreciated. She had her first solo exhibition in April 2016 at the Artists’ Center Kalaghoda in Mumbai.

Promila frequents art galleries, museums, and exhibitions as she is passionate about both art and art history.

If my paintings bring a sense of tranquillity to the viewer - it serves my purpose of expressing my sentiments through an array of colors on canvas
